Quiet dances is a durational dance performance that emerged from the need to investigate and distinguish personal and performative dance. The dancers choose an hour of music, put on headphones, close their eyes, and surrender to music and
dance.

The project makes use of RF headphones to create an intimate, safe space for the performer to explore their own artistic practice while performing to their favourite music. The music is shared with the audience through headphones and thus immerse themselves in a personal, one-on-one relationship with the performer.

The work strives towards anti-racist structures and strives for inclusivity both in artistic practices as well as in it’s relation towards the audience. Quiet dances welcomes all kinds of bodies, abilities and skill levels on stage.

Premiere 08/2017, URB Festival, Kiasma Theatre, Helsinki.
08/2018 Gothenburg Dance and Theatre Festival, Sweden.
